# Adding your tax ID

> Add a tax ID to your Runpod account to update how tax is applied to your purchases.

A tax ID is a number your government assigns to your business when you register for tax. Adding a valid tax ID to your account may exempt you from tax.

## Add your tax ID at checkout

When completing a purchase, Stripe's checkout flow includes a field to enter your tax ID.

1. At the payment screen, click **Add a business tax ID**.
2. A tax ID field appears. The label varies by country. Enter your tax ID.
3. Complete your purchase. The tax ID is saved to your account for future purchases.

## Add your tax ID in account settings

You can add or update your tax ID at any time in your Runpod account settings.

1. Go to **Settings** in the Runpod console.
2. Under **Account Information**, find **Tax ID**.
3. Enter your tax ID and save.
